El grupo surge de la interacción de tres especialistas en la aplicación de la nanotecnología a diversas disciplinas médicas, dedicando su investigación al diseño, preparación y caracterización de nanopartículas biocompatibles para teranóstica en oncología e inmunología, así como el desarrollo de modelos computacionales para la planificación (preclínica y clínica) de tratamientos de hipertermia magnética.

Líneas de investigación
  • Ensayos in silico de hipertermia magnética (Daniel Ortega Ponce): Partiendo de fantomas virtuales animales y humanos, realizamos simulaciones por ordenador de terapias y técnicas de diagnóstico basadas en la interacción de campos electromagnéticos y nanomateriales en el rango de frecuencias de kHz.
  • Desarrollo de test tipo point-of-care (PoC) para monitorización de pacientes de cáncer (Daniel Ortega Ponce): Colaboramos con investigadores de otros centros para diseñar una nanotecnología que permita realizar pruebas PoC para monitorizar a los pacientes de cáncer después del tratamiento. Nuestro principal objetivo es la detección temprana de la recaída del cáncer.
  • Procesos de fabricación de nanomateriales inducidos por láser (Oscar Bomati Miguel): Sintetizamos y caracterizamos nanomateriales biocompatibles por ablación laser y pirolisis láser, para su posterior utilización en medicina.
  • Agentes de contraste para resonancia magnética (Oscar Bomati Miguel): Una de las principales aplicaciones de los nanomateriales multifuncionales que desarrollamos son los contrastes de imagen médica, con especial interés en la resonancia magnética, para la detección de tumores.
  • Nanopartículas metálicas, magnéticas y fluorescentes para detección de células terapéuticas mediante técnicas de imagen (Rocío Litrán Ramos): Diseñamos procesos de síntesis química de nuevas nanopartículas con distintas propiedades físicas que son posteriormente empleadas en la detección y seguimiento de dianas terapéuticas.
