CO7: Biomedical Engineering and Telemedicine

The Biomedical Engineering and Telemedicine Research Group (IBT) is a multidisciplinary group made up of researchers from the University of Cádiz and the Andalusian Public Health System, from the field of engineering (telecommunications engineers, industrial engineers, computer engineers). and from the health sector (pathologists, oncologists, ophthalmologists, internists, neurophysiologists and physiotherapists).

Among the goals and purposes of the IBT group are to integrate physical, mathematical, and life sciences with engineering principles for the study of biology, medicine, and health systems and for the application of technology to improve health and quality of life.

To this end, the IBT Group focuses its research activities on the development of methods of analysis and processing of biomedical signals and images to help diagnose different pathologies, and on the generation of predictive models (using Big-Data techniques and Artificial Intelligence) based on biosignals and symptoms. And all this with applications to the field of cardio-respiratory medicine, digital pathology, e-health and m-health, ophthalmology and physical and rehabilitation medicine.
