EM7: Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery: Clinical Studies and Experimental Models

Clinical and basic, multidisciplinary group, which focuses on the study of Liver Disease due to fatty deposits and Type II Diabetes, and the mechanisms involved in the impact on both entities of the different bariatric surgery techniques. Oriented to the human clinic and with development of experimental lines in animals.

  • Surgical techniques with metabolic consequences in humans: resolution of obesity; improvement of the techniques used; social implications and improvement of quality of life.

  • Compensatory metabolic mechanisms in the chronic development of type 2 Diabetes mellitus, through the analysis of the participation of peripheral tissues in the management of hydrocarbon metabolism.
