The Central Support Units for Biomedical Research and Health Sciences (UCAIB) are made up of the set of common scientific services, infrastructures and equipment that belong to or are associated with some of the entities that make up INiBICA, attended by technical staff own, which provide support and technical and methodological advice to the research staff of the Institute, as well as to users and external organizations that request it.
The main objective of these services is to guarantee the maintenance and correct functioning of the different instrumental techniques and to facilitate the access of research personnel and companies to them through specialized advice on their use and benefits.
Currently, most of the UCAIBs are located in the Research Unit of the Puerta del Mar University Hospital (UI-HUPM) and in the Central Biomedicine Research Services (SC-IBM), located in the Andrés Segovia building on the University Campus. of Cádiz, centers that have the technology, equipment and knowledge necessary to be at the forefront of research.
Research Unit of the Puerta del Mar University Hospital
The Research Unit of the “Puerta del Mar” University Hospital (UIHUPM) has around 650 m2 of laboratories, with equipment financed through infrastructure aid (for example, FEDER funds) and research projects awarded to research groups by different state and regional agencies (FIS, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Science of the Junta de Andalucía, among others).
Central Research Services in Biomedicine of the University of Cádiz
The Central Biomedicine Research Services (SC-IBM) of the University of Cádiz were established in 1994 and were subsequently renewed thanks to their transfer and the installation of equipment obtained within the framework of the Incentives for the Improvement of Infrastructures and Equipment of the Agents of the Andalusian Knowledge System, the Subprogram of Scientific and Technological Infrastructure Projects Co-financed with the European Regional Development Fund, the Program for Strengthening R&D Capacities and the Call for Scientific and Technological Infrastructure. Due to the collaboration agreement with the University of Cádiz, any INiBICA researcher is considered an “internal user” of the UCA with access and rates similar to the staff of this institution.
