P1 - Neuroscience and Behavior

The Neuroscience and Behavior Program is oriented towards the study of disorders that directly or indirectly affect the central and peripheral nervous systems, as well as their repercussions on behaviour. The Program focuses particularly on disorders with unmet needs for innovation in research and development of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies of all kinds. Specifically, the Program is interested in neurodevelopmental disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, neurological diseases in general, and mental health disorders.

In short, the Program aims to improve and increase scientific knowledge about the nervous system and behavior in health and disease conditions in order to offer proposals in this area that result in improved diagnosis, treatment and quality of life for people. throughout the entire life cycle.

Program 1 currently has 8 Consolidated Groups (CO4, CO9, CO11, CO12, CO18, CO19, CO20 and CO23), 2 Emerging Groups (EM10 and EM25) and 5 Associated Groups (IN5, IN10, IN25, IN29 and IN44).

P2 - Inflammation

The Inflammation Program addresses the inflammatory processes that are at the crossroads that define human health and disease, directing the delicate balance of our immune system. The mission of the line is the multidisciplinary study of these inflammatory processes -cellular and molecular-, in different pathologies, as well as the inflammatory agents that trigger them. It includes direct connections with areas such as immunology, microbiology, endocrinology, infectious diseases and multisystemic diseases, among others.

Program 2 currently has 8 Consolidated Groups (CO1, CO2, CO3, CO13, CO16, CO17, CO25 and CO27), 10 Emerging Groups (EM1, EM11, EM16, EM20, EM21, EM24, EM27, EM4, EM5 and EM7) and 5 Associated Groups (IN11, IN12, IN26, IN35 and IN42).

P3 - Oncohematology

The Oncohematology Program is aimed at developing research of excellence in relation to cancer, both clinical and translational, basic and public health, taking advantage of the potential synergy between the research groups that form it. To achieve this, collaboration mechanisms are established between the different agents related to research, especially those located directly in our environment, and collaboration is promoted for the implementation of new lines of biomedical research on cancer.

The transfer of cancer research results is one of the pillars promoted in this PROGRAM as an inseparable part of the knowledge management system, with the aim of achieving a greater positive impact on the HEALTH of the population. citizenship.

Program 3 currently has 6 Emerging Groups (EM2, EM3, EM8, EM13, EM18 and EM29) and 2 Associated Groups (IN23 and IN46).

Program 3 Coordinator:

– José Manuel Baena Cañada.

P4 - Epidemiology and Public Health

The Epidemiology and Public Health Program is made up of a multidisciplinary group, with high motivation, ambition and scientific projection; they have a high capacity for disseminating research due to their scientific production, based on the number of published articles (Q1 and Q2) and their cumulative impact factor, and also a high possibility of transferring research findings to healthcare practice , for its capacity for healthcare innovation.

It collaborates with other national and international clinical-epidemiological research centers and participates in different national and international networks in the field of epidemiology and public health.

Program 4 currently has 4 Consolidated Groups (CO8, CO14, CO15 and CO26), 4 Emerging Groups (EM14, EM15, EM19 and EM22) and 6 Associated Groups (IN1, IN4, IN28, IN34, IN41 and IN51).

Program 4 Coordinator:

– José Castro Piñero.

P5 - Innovative Procedures and Therapies - Emerging

The Innovative-Emerging Therapies and Procedures Program is made up of a multidisciplinary group (basic groups from the University, hospital and primary care doctors, engineers, nurses), with great experience and leadership, and with well-defined lines of research within some CMUs in the healthcare environment.

They have collaborations with other national and international centers and several ongoing projects.

His lines of research have a high possibility of transfer to healthcare practice.

Program 5 currently has 6 Consolidated Groups (CO5, CO6, CO7, CO10, CO22 and CO24), 4 Emerging Groups (EM6, EM12, EM23 and EM26) and 4 Associated Groups (IN19, IN30, IN48 and IN49).

P7 - Transversal Science-Business Transfer Programme focused on Healthcare based on Marine Resources

The effect of human activities on the environment is more than proven. The increase in temperature (climate change), agricultural, industrial and sewage discharges, the destruction of habitats, the overexploitation of resources are causing radical changes in many marine systems that in turn affect the communities that live there . These changes also have a feedback effect on human health.

The incomparable biodiversity of the oceans offers great opportunities for the discovery of new bioactive products with applicability in medicine, nutrition, cosmetics, new industrial processes or biotechnology.

The Health Program based on marine resources focuses its research activity on the study of the impact of human activities on the environment and on microorganism communities and on the search for new bioactive products from marine invertebrates.

Program 7 currently has 2 Associated Groups (IN31 and IN50).
