INiBICA discusses Atrial Fibrillation Research on RNE Cádiz
The Persuade project aims to improve treatments for atrial fibrillation, a common heart rhythm disorder. This international research collaboration, led by INiBICA and involving hospitals in the Netherlands and Romania, universities in Milan and Valencia and patient associacion Trébol de Corazones de Cádiz, was recently featured on Radio 5 RNE Cádiz. Dr. Juan Fernández Armenta, director of INiBICA’s cardiac research group and Etel Silva García, Persuade project coordinator, discussed INiBICA’s leadership in the effort to improve treatments for this common heart rhythm disorder. PERSUADE project partners unite in Cádiz
The PERSUADE project is dedicated to advancing AF research through a patientcentered approach, focusing on personalized models and innovative treatment strategies. This commitment was reinforced during the project’s first in-person meeting, held in Cádiz on January 29th and 30th. This meeting brought together the project’s diverse partners, including FCADIZ-INIBICA, the Amsterdam University Medical Center, the Bucharest Clinical Emergency Hospital, Politecnico di Milano, the University of Valencia, and the University Pompeu Fabra, for two days of collaborative discussions. Critically, the project also benefits from the intensive involvement of the patient association Trébol de Corazones de Cádiz, who are working closely with the research team to ensure the patient perspective is integrated. Enhancing patient care. Medical trainings for comprehensive understanding of cardiology procedures
Puerta del Mar Hospital in Cádiz, Spain, recently conducted a training session on electrophysiology and interventional cardiology techniques. The training aimed to equip healthcare professionals with the necessary skills to improve patient outcomes for heart failure. The training included hands-on experience with pig heart dissections and the use of advanced cardiac mapping systems. As a key participant in the PERSUADE project, Puerta del Mar Hospital is at the forefront of research aimed at optimizing rhythm control therapy for atrial fibrillation (AF). World Heart Day celebration together with Asociación Trébol de Corazones de Cádiz
26 and 27 September 2024. To commemorate World Heart Day, Patient Association Trébol de Corazones de Cádiz, a partner in the PERSUADE project, organized a diverse program of activities including workshops, theater, school talks, and a city march culminating at Plaza de la Catedral. This event aimed to promote healthy lifestyles, advance medical research, and raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases, targeting patients, families, and the general public. A booth was set up at the event to emphasize the importance of clinical research in cardiovascular health. These activities not only raised awareness about heart health but also strengthened the collaboration between researchers and patients.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Conference. Heart Week Celebration
23 September 2024. To commemorate World Heart Day, the EM1: Gadicor research group participated in the informative workshops organized by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit of the Puerta del Mar Hospital in Cádiz on September 23rd. During the event, Etel Silva gave a public lecture on the various research lines being developed in the Cardiology Unit of the same hospital. As part of the presentation, the PERSUADE project was highlighted, with its goals and methodologies discussed in detail. The aim was to engage participants in the topic of international research related to atrial fibrillation and cardiovascular diseases more generally. The audience, mainly composed of patients from the unit, showed great interest in learning about the scientific advances being carried out in the province of Cádiz.

Multidisciplinary Consortium of Experts Launches PERSUADE Project to Revolutionize Treatment of Persistent Atrial Fibrillation
On Tuesday, July 23rd, the innovative PERSUADE project was launched to transform the treatment and management of persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). Supported by the ERA4Health partnership, this international collaboration brings together leading experts to address the urgent need for innovative solutions to this heart condition.
