📅 February 14, 2024 🕘 From 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 📍Auditorium, Jerez Campus 💬 Coinciding with European Sexual Health Day, the event will be an opportunity to reflect on and discuss innovative strategies for intervention and collaboration among healthcare institutions, INiBICA, and the university. 🚀 This event is part of the initiatives promoted by the University of Cádiz through the Office of the Vice Rector for Health Sciences and University Community Well-being and the General Directorate of Diversity, within the framework of the agreement signed with @apoyopositivo, a non-governmental organization recognized as being of public benefit. Since 2024, this collaboration has allowed us to promote strategic actions to improve sexual health by fostering a coordinated approach with the healthcare system. 📍 The University Medical Center Amsterdam ( HUPM ) hosted the first in-person working meeting of the Persuade project, a research initiative funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe program. The meeting, organized by INIBICA, aimed to review the progress made to date and define the next phases of the study. 🤝 The meeting was attended by representatives from key institutions such as the Foundation for Biomedical Research Management at Cádiz, the Amsterdam University Medical Center, Carol Davila Hospital in Bucharest, the University of Valencia, the Polytechnic University of Milan, Pompeu Fabra University, and the Trébol de Corazones heart association at Cádiz. 🚀 Persuade’s innovative approach includes the use of artificial intelligence to optimize treatments and seeks to improve the precision and personalization of treatment strategies for persistent atrial fibrillation. 🔗 More information: Portal at Cádiz || Instagram

🏡🤝 INiBICA Launches a Support Program for Families of Patients at Puerta del Mar Hospital 🤝🏡

🫂 As part of its Humanization Plan, the HUPM continues its initiative to support family members of long-term patients by providing two housing units for their accommodation. This measure, intended for families facing complex or serious medical situations who cannot have permanent companions, has been made possible thanks to the collaboration 🔗 with the “Todo por una sonrisa” Association and the Unicaja Foundation. 📍The association, in coordination with the hospital’s Citizen Participation department, manages the stay and any issues that may arise during it. In addition, INiBICA is part of the project, managing the funds provided by the Unicaja Foundation to cover the costs of the housing units 🤝💙

🩺🔬 INiBICA researchers present a study on the early detection of diabetic foot 🔬🩺

Researchers from the AGSCGE (Campo de Gibraltar East Health Management Area), affiliated with INIBICA and in collaboration with the EITI (School of Industrial Technical Engineering), have presented a study on the early detection of diabetic foot in primary care using hyperspectral imaging. 🏆 This project, which received a university-level award at the 9th R&D&I Awards hosted by the Algeciras Technology Campus Foundation, offers significant advances in prevention and treatment: ✅ Early detection of high-risk areas. ✅ Non-invasive and accurate monitoring. ✅ Reduction in amputations through early intervention. In short, this is a major breakthrough for a complication that affects a significant percentage of patients with diabetes and can have serious consequences if not detected and treated in time. The CTS-1111 Research Group, “ CO23: Genetics and Neurodegenerative Diseases, led by Dr. Ana Belén Muñoz Manchado, affiliated with the University of Cádiz and the Institute for Biomedical Research at Cádiz (INIBICA), is seeking a candidate interested in applying for a competitive fellowship Juan de la Cierva to carry out a 2-year postdoctoral project. The group focuses its research on understanding the genetic mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases. Currently, the group is focusing on two main Lines of research : understanding the pathology of Parkinson’s disease and investigating the role of the striatum in cell-type-specific neurodegenerative diseases through the application of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), using both human samples and genetic models. The candidate will join the group and be responsible for analyzing single-cell data, as well as actively participating in the group’s other Lines of research . Essential requirements: Candidates must hold a Ph Title ’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or related fields. Preferred qualifications: Experience using bioinformatics tools to analyze data obtained from single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics. Experience with bioinformatics programming languages (Python, Bash scripting, R, etc.). Certification to work with laboratory animals. Contributions to Publications and scientific communication. The “ CO15: : Population and Health—Determinants and Interventions” research group, led by Dr. Juan Antonio Córdoba Doña, affiliated with the Jerez Hospital of the Andalusian Health Service and the Institute for Biomedical Research of Cádiz (INIBICA), is seeking a candidate to apply for Río Hortega or Sara Borrell grants. One of the group’s research objectives is to study the difference in blood pressure between both arms and its implications for vascular risk; the group was awarded a competitive grant in the recent call for proposals at Projects for research and innovation in the field of primary care, regional hospitals, and high-resolution hospital centers within the Andalusian Public Health System. The candidate would be responsible, in collaboration with Dr. Manuel María Ortega Marlasca (SAS / UCA / INIBICA) of the Jerez Sur Health Center of the Andalusian Health Service, for the recruitment and standardized assessment of patients at the Jerez Sur Health Center (Andalusian Health Service). Essential requirements: Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree ( Title ) and/or a Ph.D. in the field of Health Sciences (medicine or nursing). Preferred qualifications: Experience collecting biological samples from humans; experience with basic computer and database techniques; knowledge of bioinformatics; contributions to Publications and scientific communication.
