LINE 1 – FUNDING FOR Projects AND INNOVATION Projects FOR INiBICA RESEARCH GROUPS
1.a. Purpose of the aid
This initiative is aimed at funding Projects and innovation Projects submitted by INiBICA research staff belonging to established or emerging groups, who act as principal investigators for the application.
Associated groups may always participate in collaboration with an established or emerging group.
The Principal Investigators (hereinafter referred to as PIs) of the project undertake to apply for a project under the national plan (Ministry or ISCIII) in the call for proposals immediately following the completion of the project. Failure to comply with this commitment will prevent the PI from accessing any of the Lines of Action in the next call for proposals under the plan.
The multidisciplinary nature of Team will be encouraged, understood as collaboration between different basic and clinical research specialties.
1.b. Amount of aid and implementation period
The total budget allocated to this action is €180,000, and the maximum amount to be allocated per project will be €20,000 spread over a period of 24 months, with a maximum extension of 6 months for the project implementation period, subject to prior authorization by INiBICA.
50% of the amount awarded will be released to beneficiaries at the start of the project implementation period. Halfway through the implementation period, an interim review will be carried out, and a favorable evaluation will be essential for the remaining 50% of the funding to be paid.
The maximum number of Projects be funded by the INiBICA program will be three, unless there is a surplus.
1.c. How and when to submit applications
Applications must be submitted by the project PI. Projects submitted with one or two principal investigators (PI and Co-PI), who must belong to INiBICA groups. Only one application may be submitted per INiBICA group.
Associated groups may only apply as Co-IPs in collaboration with an established group.
The PI may only be listed on a single application, and a collaborating researcher may be listed on up to two Projects shared dedication.
The deadline for submitting applications is May 21. Applications must be submitted by E-mail planpropio@inibica.es by 11:59 p.m. on the deadline date.

1.d. Requirements for emerging researchers
- Not having led any research project in response to competitive national or international public calls for proposals at the date of submission of applications.
- Have obtained Title or the Title Title specialist in health sciences after 2005.
- Have a minimum scientific output of 3 Publications articles and reviews) in the last 5 years as first or last author, or as corresponding author, in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Report (JCR) and ranked in quartiles 1 and 2, according to the JCR for the year of publication.
When calculating the years of scientific production and the date of obtaining the doctorate and/or specialty, the following accredited interruptions will be considered non-working days: periods of leave for maternity or paternity in accordance with the protected situations set out in the General Social Security System (an extension of one year will be applied for each child); serious illness or accident of the applicant, with sick leave of three months or more (an extension equal to the period of justified sick leave will be applied, rounded up to full months); care for dependent persons, in accordance with Law 39/2006 of December 14 on the Promotion of Personal Autonomy and Care for Dependent Persons, for a minimum period of 3 months (an extension equal to the justified period will be applied, rounded up to full months).
1.e. Eligible items
- Goods and services: scientific research materials, consumables, bibliographic materials, and external services.
- Travel, accommodation, and meals according to the maximum amounts of compensation for service established in Decree 54/1989, of March 21, on compensation for service by the Regional Government of Andalusia, exclusively for persons who are part of Team . Exceptionally, any expenses outside these amounts, or for persons other than Team, must be authorized by the granting body.
- Expenses for hiring technical or research personnel necessary for carrying out the project.
- Other duly justified expenses necessary for the completion of the project, such as registration fees for conferences or seminars for the presentation and dissemination of results.
Representation and protocol expenses are excluded.
1.f. Evaluation of applications
The Evaluation Committee appointed for this purpose will ensure compliance with the requirements necessary for this call for proposals. This evaluation committee will be completely external and independent of INiBICA.
- Scientific quality and technical and economic feasibility of the proposal. Up to a maximum of 50 points. The project must score at least 30 points in this section in order to be eligible for funding.
- Team . Maximum 40 points:
- CV of the PI or PIs. Assessment of the Composition experience of Team carry out the project: This will have a maximum score of 20 points and must have a minimum of 10 points in this criterion to be funded.
- If the PI or Co-PI belongs to an emerging group, they will receive an additional 5 points.
- If the PI or Co-PI meets the definition of emerging as detailed in point 1.d, they will receive an additional 5 points.
- Projects demonstrate inter-level collaboration between consolidated, emerging, or associated groups will receive 5 additional points.
- Projects in collaboration between a clinical IP and an IP from any other discipline will receive an additional 5 points.
- Impact and expected results, Publications Q1, Patents, etc. Up to a maximum of 10 points. A minimum of 3 points is required in this section in order to be eligible for funding.
1.g. Monitoring and justification of aid
Twelve months after the start of the project, an interim assessment will be carried out, and a favorable evaluation will be essential for the continuation of the grant. To this end, beneficiaries will have to submit a scientific and technical follow-up report detailing the activities carried out, the objectives achieved, and the results obtained during this first period of the project.
- Scientific and technical report on all activities carried out.
- Results and productivity indicators obtained in the project (Publications, Patents, clinical practice guidelines, concatenation of another project, etc.).
If an extension has been granted, the new schedule of activities and the new objectives to be developed during that period must have been submitted together with the request for authorization of the extension.
Failure to justify the aid in the terms described will result in the repayment of all amounts received.
Principal investigators are required to provide annual financial justification for expenses incurred against the project budget, submitting supporting documentation (invoices, copies of contracts, receipts, etc.) to FCÁDIZ.
1.h. Obligations of beneficiaries
For the final allocation of funds, the PI must justify the approval of the relevant ethics committees.
INiBICA may request and summon interested parties to carry out any actions and monitor any activities it deems necessary, including face-to-face interviews with beneficiaries. Participation in the monitoring sessions is mandatory, and any recommendations made must be accepted.
The beneficiaries of this aid will be required to participate in activities to publicize the research they are conducting and to mention INiBICA as the entity funding said research activities. The beneficiary and managing entity of the funds will be FCÁDIZ.
The project IPs undertake to apply for a national plan project (Ministry or ISCIII) in the call for proposals immediately following the completion of the project. Proof of submission of the application for these Projects be provided to INiBICA as evidence of compliance. Failure to comply with these commitments will prevent the IP from accessing any of the Lines of Action in the next call for proposals for the plan itself.

LINE 2 – FUNDING FOR PRE-DOCTORAL RESEARCH STAFF POSITIONS LINKED TO A PROPOSAL
FOR WORK INVOLVING CLINICAL-BASIC INTERACTION
2.a. Purpose of the aid
Action aimed at the competitive call for pre-doctoral contracts for the training of doctors, under the pre-doctoral contract modality, of Research Personnel in Training at the University of Cádiz, who wish to carry out a Doctoral Thesis associated with a joint line of research between clinical care researchers and researchers from any other discipline, helping to achieve Projects publish results jointly.
The call is aimed at completing a doctoral thesis, with the possibility of an additional postdoctoral year if the doctoral thesis is defended in its third year.
2.b. Amount of aid and implementation period
The budget allocated for this line is €151,302 per year for the first three years and €194,000 for the last year if the prerequisite is met (an additional postdoctoral year if the doctoral thesis is defended in its third year); with this budget, the number of positions available will be six (total annual contract cost €25,217).
Those who obtain their Title during the third year of the contract will terminate their predoctoral researcher contract and sign a new contract as a newly qualified researcher (with a total annual contract cost of approximately €32,283).
Contracts will have a maximum duration of four years, starting from the date on which the researcher takes up their position.
The renewal of aid by the Scientific Directorate of INiBICA will be subject to evaluation by the Commission designated for this purpose on an annual basis, with a maximum period not exceeding four years, and renewal conditional upon the evaluation of the work carried out each year.
2.c. Applicant requirements
- At least one thesis supervisor will be a clinician employed by the Andalusian Health Service or the Regional Ministry of Health.
- At least one of the applicants must belong to established or emerging groups within INiBICA.
Pre-doctoral researchers must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must meet, within the application period, the general requirements for admission to doctoral studies set out in Article 11 of Regulation UCA/CG06/2012, of June 27, 2012, which regulates the organization of doctoral studies at the University of Cádiz.
- Nationality. There are no specific requirements regarding the nationality or residence of applicants. However, the hiring of non-EU foreign researchers will be suspended until they obtain a visa authorizing them to work in accordance with the provisions of Organic Law 4/2000 on the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain and their social integration, following its reform by Organic Law 2/2009 of December 11 (BOE of 12.12.2009) and applicable regulatory provisions.
- Those who have begun their pre-doctoral training with funding from other grants for the same purpose, awarded within the framework of the University of Cádiz Program for the Promotion and Advancement of Research and Transfer, or those who already hold Title from any Spanish or foreign university, are not eligible to participate in this program. Applicants who have previously held a pre-doctoral contract for more than twelve months are also ineligible.
Compliance with the requirements to participate in this call for applications must always refer to the deadline for submitting applications and must be maintained throughout the contract period of the respective competition.
Only one application may be submitted per research group.
2.d. How and when to submit applications
Applications must be submitted by one of the thesis supervisors. The deadline for submitting applications is June 30. Applications must be sent by E-mail planpropio@inibica.es by 11:59 p.m. on the deadline date.
- CVN (FECYT model) of the candidate.
- Affidavit stating that the applicant does not hold a Title from any Spanish or foreign university, and that all the information provided in the CV and application is true. The applicant must notify the examining body of any changes in the circumstances set out in this affidavit. Any change in the circumstances set out in the affidavit will result in the applicant's failure to meet the requirements for participation (Annex I).
- Affidavit stating that, prior to submitting the application, the applicant has not received any pre-doctoral training grant under the terms of section 2.c) or, where applicable, any pre-doctoral contract for a period exceeding twelve months (Annex II).
- Academic certificate issued by the academic institution, corresponding to the degrees held or courses completed on the date of submission of the application, which allow access to the doctoral program. The certificate must include the grades obtained and the dates on which they were obtained, corresponding to the subjects that make up the program of the degrees or courses listed. The application must include a sworn statement that the degrees or courses referred to in the academic certificate are those passed at the time of application. In the case of certificates issued by foreign institutions, the maximum and minimum grades within the corresponding assessment system and the minimum grade required to pass must also be stated. If the academic certificate is issued in a language other than Spanish or English, it must be accompanied by the corresponding official translation into one of these two languages.
- Copy of valid passport, only in the case of foreign citizens not residing in Spanish territory.
- CVA (FECYT Model) of the thesis supervisors.
- Candidate's report on the suitability of the proposal (Annex III).
- Report on the scientific activity to be carried out by the candidate and justification of the receiving group's ability to supervise the thesis (Annex IV).
2.e. Evaluation of applications
It will be carried out by a subcommittee appointed by the INiBICA training committee elected prior to the publication of the call for applications, which will include its Composition.
Priority will be given to Projects that demonstrate clear collaboration between clinical researchers and researchers belonging to INiBICA groups from any other discipline.
- Candidate's academic merits: 30% of the final score.
- Curricular merits of the recipient group(s), with particular emphasis on their ability to supervise doctoral theses: 60% of the final score.
- Assessment of the work proposal: 10% of the final score.
The Evaluation Committee will ensure that there is a balanced distribution among the various INiBICA programs.
Once the applications have been evaluated, the Evaluation Committee will make a preliminary selection of applicants, which will be communicated to the candidates, requiring them to submit, within a specified period depending on the doctoral program, supporting documentation of admission/pre-admission to the corresponding doctoral program. It will be the responsibility of the applicants to manage their admission, for which the candidate must meet all the requirements established by the corresponding Doctoral Program, including the commitment to thesis supervision.
In their application for admission to the Doctoral Program, candidates must indicate and justify that they have been preselected for the award of a pre-doctoral contract. In any case, being admitted or pre-admitted to a doctoral program will be an essential requirement for the award of a place.
Once the deadline has passed, the evaluation committee will propose a list of selected candidates, which will be published alongside a list of reserve candidates who may replace the beneficiaries in the event of resignation or abandonment during the first six months of the contract.
2.f. Monitoring and justification of aid
An annual follow-up evaluation will be carried out to ensure that the activity is progressing correctly. To this end, beneficiaries must submit a report detailing the activities carried out and the results obtained.
During the first two years of activity, the candidate must have completed at least one stay at a foreign center lasting a minimum of three months. Failure to achieve this milestone without a valid reason will result in the non-renewal of funding.
- Having defended the thesis, if applicable; continuity is evaluated with a one-year contract as a recent postdoctoral researcher. This criterion is non-negotiable.
- 2 Publications quartile Publications in the first three years.
- That the doctorate meets the necessary criteria for "international recognition."
2.g. Obligations of beneficiaries
- The Research Staff in Training hired must prepare scientific and technical monitoring reports. One report at the end of each year of the contract, and a final report covering the entire period of the contract, using the templates that will be sent from the Projects Management area. In addition, the updated Curriculum Vitae of the researcher in training must be attached to the monitoring reports. The outcome of the evaluation of each annual report mentioned above will be decisive in determining the continuation of contract funding.
- In the event that the contractor obtains a Title during the term of the pre-doctoral contract, the submission of the document certifying the defense and approval of the Doctoral Thesis will replace the corresponding monitoring report or reports. In cases where the Title is obtained prior to the start of the last year of the contract, and a grant is authorized for the hiring of the newly qualified researcher, a final report must be prepared on the period of execution of the postdoctoral grant. This report shall include a description of the work carried out (Publications, stays at other centers, attendance at conferences, etc.) and the progress of the line of research pursued by the contracted researcher.
- Joining the program. The candidate must join the program within a maximum period of three months from the publication of the final lists of researchers selected for hiring. With justification and prior authorization, this period may be extended to six months. To be hired, candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral program.
- Advertising. Beneficiaries shall state the nature of the funding for the subsidized activity, making express reference to the call for proposals and the body awarding the employment contracts, in the doctoral thesis, Publications, presentations, activities to disseminate results, and in any other action resulting from the contracts awarded under this call for proposals.

LINE 3 – FUNDING OF GRANTS TO SUPPORT THE COSTS OF Publications
3.a. Purpose of the aid
The objective of this line of action is to finance expenses related to translation, writing, and publication in Open Access journals indexed in Q1 (Journal Citation Report), according to the classification for the year of publication.
Publications have already been accepted, even if they have not yet been published, will be considered by Publications , provided that they have a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) obtained between May 1, 2018, and April 30, 2019.
3.b. Amount of aid
The total budget allocated to this line amounts to €15,000, with a maximum of €1,500 per application.
At least 50% of this amount will be allocated to Principal Investigators (hereinafter, PIs) who are clinicians with healthcare activities.
3.c. Requirements for beneficiaries
Only researchers who, at the time of submitting their applications, do not have funding granted for this publication will be eligible for these grants. A sworn statement is attached.
Applicants must be researchers belonging to an established or emerging INiBICA group.
In the event that there are external calls for funding for these activities, applicants will be required to commit to submitting an application for such funding.
The applicant must be the first or last author, or corresponding author.
Only one grant may be awarded per research group and per publication/DOI.
3.d. How and when to submit applications
Call for proposals open until May 31. If funds remain available after the call for proposals has been resolved, it will remain open until the available funds are exhausted. Reimbursement or payment of the best proposals received, based on the criteria set out in section 3.e., until the budget for this year is exhausted.

- Annex II Declaration signed by the PI stating that no funding has been received for this activity.
If the invoice for the translation/publication/etc. has already been paid by the group, it will be given as research funding for the payment of any other research-related item (fungible/training/travel to conferences/purchase of equipment/other translations, etc.).
3.e. Evaluation of applications
- Quartile/decile position.
- Journal impact factor.
- Publications IPs from different disciplines, including clinical IPs involved in healthcare.
- Publications collaboration with international centers.
3.f. Justification of the aid
- Proof of payment for the activity.
Failure to justify the aid in the terms described will result in the repayment of all amounts received.

LINE 4 – FUNDING TO SUPPORT THE ORGANIZATION OF CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS FOR DISSEMINATION AND TRAINING
4.a. Purpose of the aid
The objective of this line is to finance dissemination and training activities, such as travel expenses for speakers, promotional material, etc.
The selection of activities to be funded will be determined by the number of participants, scientific interest, quality, cross-cutting nature, and the search for other external funding.
Funding for activities to be carried out between July 1, 2019, and June 30, 2020.
4.b. Amount of aid
The amount of this aid will be up to €400 per application, with a total budget allocation of €4,000.
4.c. Applicant requirements
Be a researcher belonging to an established or emerging INiBICA group.
You may not receive more than one annual grant per group for this type of aid.
4.d. How and when to submit applications
- Appendix I.
Call for applications open from May 15 to June 4. In the event of remaining places, the call will remain open until all available places are filled.
4.e. Evaluation of applications
- Quality and feasibility of the activity to be carried out in relation to INiBICA's strategic lines: Maximum 25 points.
- Number of INiBICA groups interested in this activity: Maximum 25 points.
- Establishment of international collaborations or recruitment of high-level researchers: Maximum 25 points.
- Scientific nature and impact of the activity: Maximum 25 points.
4.f. Justification of the aid
The justification for the aid will be based on the cost of the activity, which will have to be organized with the INiBICA Economic Department.
