INiBICA strives to become a leader in national and international biomedical research and a magnet for talent, ultimately improving the quality of human life. We accept the responsibility of leading biomedical research in our region, sharing common goals with other stakeholders in the province of Cádiz . We also have a duty, within our sphere of influence, to serve as a role model for society.
The Team Management Board ensures the smooth operation of the Institute, with the goal of facilitating the work of researchers to achieve higher quality in their research activities.

Dr. Esther M. Berrocoso Domínguez

Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Cádiz , working in the fields of neuroscience and neuropsychopharmacology. Principal Investigator (PI) of the INiBICA CO9 group, the PAIDI CTS-510 group, and the CIBER for Mental Health (CIBERSAM) at ISCIII, where she serves on the Steering Committee in the area of training. She has served as Deputy Scientific Director of INiBICA to date. Director of the Department of Neuroscience at the UCA and member of the UCA Research Commission. Member of the Spanish Brain Council.

Dr. Simón Pedro Lubián López

A specialist in Pediatrics and Neonatology who provides patient care at the Hospital de la Universidad de Cádiz( Hospital Universitario Puerta del Mar ), where he serves as head of the Neonatology Section. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cádiz and is an associate professor of Health Sciences in the Department of Pediatrics at UCA. His career combines clinical care, university teaching, and biomedical research, with a special focus on neonatology, neonatal neurology, the neurodevelopment of preterm infants, and perinatal brain injury. He is currently Co-Principal Investigator of the INiBICA CO20 research group on perinatal brain injury.

Dr. Salvador López Cárdenas

A physician specializing in Internal Medicine who provides patient care at the University Hospital of Jerez de la Frontera, with a particular focus on infectious diseases. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cádiz, where he currently serves as a tenured professor in the Department of Medicine. His career encompasses clinical care, university teaching, and biomedical research, with research focused on Clostridioides difficile infection, the appropriate use of antimicrobials, bacterial resistance, the inflammatory response in infectious processes, and sepsis. He is currently Co-Principal Investigator of the INiBICA EM11 Ucinfecciosas research group.
