CO26: Epidemiology, Quality of Life, and mHealth

The group focuses primarily on research related to clinical and social epidemiology centered on chronic pain from various causes, analyzing the factors associated with the condition, those related to lack of response to treatments, and their consequences on the family, social, and healthcare environments. In addition, we have launched a research line based on the use of new m-health technologies to improve health outcomes for patients suffering from chronic pain. Within the group, we are committed to developing and applying new methods of data analysis to improve the validity of health outcomes. Due to the group’s multidisciplinary nature, we have two mathematicians with expertise in complex data analysis techniques; a sociologist with experience in qualitative methodology, focused on the population’s perspective and patients’ experiences; a general health psychologist; a physical therapist who has actively collaborated in the design and development of rehabilitation-oriented m-health systems; and two specialists in Preventive Medicine and Public Health from the UCA, with extensive experience in studies related to the epidemiology of pain and in leading working groups.
