The group consists of a multidisciplinary Team with extensive experience in biomathematics (mathematical models of cancer, drug resistance, diabetes, and other diseases). Their work and research focus on developing mathematical models and tools for the design of new therapies and/or the optimization of existing ones for the treatment of tumors of the central nervous system, lung cancer, and leukemias. In addition, the Team collaborates with the MôLAB (Mathematical Oncology Laboratory) Research Group at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, a pioneer in this field.

Lines of research
  • Line 1: Research on biomedical problems related to hematology, tumors, treatment resistance, and diabetes (related to the kinetics of hemoglobin glycation in the blood).
  • Line 2: The goal of this group is to use mathematical tools to obtain results applicable to onco-hematology and diabetes. We will develop various mathematical models that describe the dynamics of different types of blood cancers and their response to treatment. We will validate these models using integrated diagnostic data from affected patients as well as data from experimental models, and we will use them to design optimized therapeutic strategies. In the case of diabetes, we will work on developing a mathematical model that describes the process of hemoglobin glycation. We will search for new alternative biomarkers of interest to identify potential diabetes-related pathologies and to monitor the progression of the disease.
  • Line 3: From a mathematical perspective, our methodology will combine the use and study of ordinary and partial differential equations, numerical simulation, data analysis techniques, statistical tools, and optimization methods.
