CO31: GADICOR
The GADICOR research group focuses on the comprehensive study of cardiovascular disease from clinical, pathophysiological, and technological perspectives, with a special emphasis on advanced diagnosis, interventional procedures, and improving health outcomes. It concentrates on cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment, with a focus on coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and cardiac imaging. Team , composed of professionals from the Hospital Universitario Puerta del Mar , and the Hospital Universitario de Jerez de la Frontera, also studies issues related to prevention, cardiovascular risk, antithrombotic therapies, and new procedures, with a focus on the role of nursing.

Lines of research
- Line 1: Coronary Physiology and Disease. Invasive study of coronary physiology and pathophysiology using cardiac catheterization and supported by intracoronary diagnostic techniques. This also includes the study of the physiology of coronary collateral circulation: both factors that may influence its development and its role in clinical contexts. It also includes research on coronary intervention procedures and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in ischemic heart disease.
- Line 2: Non-coronary (structural) interventionism.
- Line 3: Study of cardiac valve diseases, particularly aortic stenosis. Primarily from an echocardiographic and functional coronary perspective.
- Line 4: Heart failure (HF). Predictors of sudden and non-sudden mortality in HF. Predictive models and mortality risk scores in acute and chronic HF. Reduction in hospital readmissions (morbidity) in patients with HF. Cardiomyopathies. New treatments for HF. New models of care for HF. The role of nursing. HF units.
- Line 5: Invasive and noninvasive electrophysiology. Noninvasive electrophysiology, including Holter monitoring, HRV, TWA, late potentials, and TRB. Invasive electrophysiology, including ablation techniques, arrhythmias, devices, and sudden death. Application of cardiac imaging to invasive electrophysiology techniques.
- Line 6: Cardiac Imaging. Echocardiography, CT Angiography, Cardiac MRI, Angiography.
- Line 7: Cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs) and their modification. Management of CVRFs at different levels of care (primary care/specialized care). The role of secondary prevention and cardiac rehabilitation units. The role of nursing.
- Line 8: Antithrombotic treatments (antiplatelet agents and anticoagulants) for cardiovascular diseases.
- Line 9: New diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for cardiovascular diseases.
