CO33: Thoracic Tumors

The Thoracic Tumors Group focuses its activities on clinical and translational research in oncology, with a special emphasis on personalized medicine. It analyzes molecular alterations, biomarkers, and tumor immunology to optimize treatment selection and develop new therapeutic strategies for lung cancer, breast cancer, and other solid tumors. It also promotes the use of immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and tumor registries and banks to improve patient prognosis and follow-up.

Line 1: Lung Cancer. Evaluation of new drugs for lung cancer with potentially druggable molecular alterations; Treatment of lung cancer without potentially druggable molecular alterations; Study of the causes of the initiation and progression of the lung cancer tumor process: identification of potential biomarkers with predictive and/or prognostic value; Immunology in lung cancer.
Line 2: Breast Cancer. Adjuvant and advanced treatment of breast cancer in luminal patients with the new SERDs; Adjuvant immunotherapy in patients with triple-negative breast cancer; Extended adjuvant therapy in HER2-positive disease; Adjuvant immunotherapy in HER2-positive disease; Immunoconjugate antibodies in advanced disease; Study of the PI3K pathway in HER2-positive disease and in luminal disease progressing to cyclins; Treatment selection based on molecular profiling in luminal patients with advanced disease.
Line 3: Other tumors. National registry and/or creation of a local tumor bank for colon, ovarian, and CNS cancers; Development of new treatment modalities combining immunotherapy with chemotherapy for unresectable and/or metastatic gastrointestinal and head and neck tumors; Predictive and/or prognostic role of blood biomarkers in the follow-up of hormone-resistant prostate cancer and metastatic bladder cancer treated with immunotherapy.
