CO7: Biomedical Engineering and Telemedicine

The Biomedical Engineering and Telemedicine Research Group (IBT) is a multidisciplinary group made up of researchers from the University of Cádiz the Andalusian Public Health System, coming from the fields of engineering (telecommunications engineers, industrial engineers, computer engineers) and the healthcare sector (pathologists, oncologists, ophthalmologists, internists, neurophysiologists, and physical therapists).physiologists, and physical therapists).

Among the objectives and purposes of the IBT group are to integrate the physical, mathematical, and life sciences with the principles of engineering for the study of biology, medicine, and health systems, and for the application of technology to improve health and quality of life.

To this end, the IBT Group focuses its research activities on developing methods for analyzing and processing biomedical signals and images to aid in the diagnosis of different pathologies, and on generating predictive models (using Big Data and Artificial Intelligence techniques) based on biosignals and symptoms. All of this has applications in the fields of cardiorespiratory medicine, digital pathology, e-health and m-health, ophthalmology, and physical and rehabilitation medicine.
