The Cádiz Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation Cádiz INiBICA) joins in the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, recognizing the fundamental role that women play in scientific research and innovation.

At INiBICA, 62% of the staff are women, within the Cádiz Biomedical Research Foundation, which manages INiBICA, and we have more than 500 female researchers, 40 of whom lead research groups. In addition, we are proud to have three women as principal investigators for European Projects and ten for national programs.

This day is an opportunity to highlight the importance of gender equality in science and to promote a culture of inclusion and diversity in the scientific field. At INiBICA, we are committed to encouraging the participation of women and girls in research and promoting a culture of equal opportunities at all levels.

Activities:

This year, INiBICA has organized several activities to mark February 11, International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which will be publicized through the institute's official channels. These activities include:

• "Science belongs to everyone": An initiative in which INiBICA researchers come together to showcase their fundamental role in scientific development.
• Networks campaign to raise the profile of women scientists: This Networks campaign aims to raise the profile of women scientists and honor their achievements.#HonorWomenScientists
• Lectures: INiBICA has organized several lectures to commemorate this day, including "NO SCIENCE, NO FUTURE," "International Day of Women and Girls in Science," "A Professional Career in and for Science," and "Can Mathematics Cure?" These talks are intended to raise awareness among young people about the importance of gender equality in science and to encourage research among young people.

This International Day of Women and Girls in Science is a reminder of the need to continue working to achieve greater representation of women in science and equal opportunities for all people, regardless of gender.
