Cádiz 's Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation (INiBICA) joins in the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, recognizing the vital role that women play in scientific research and innovation.
At INiBICA, 62% of the staff are women. INiBICA is part of the “ Cádiz ” Biomedical Research Foundation, which manages the institute, and we have more than 500 female researchers, 40 of whom lead research groups. In addition, we are proud to have three women serving as principal investigators for Projects in European research programs and ten in national programs.
This day is an opportunity to highlight the importance of gender equality in science and to promote a culture of inclusion and diversity in the scientific community. At INiBICA, we are committed to encouraging the participation of women and girls in research and to promoting a culture of equal opportunity at all levels.
Activities:
This year, INiBICA has organized several activities to mark February 11, in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which will be shared through the institute’s official channels. These activities include:
- “Science Belongs to Everyone”: An initiative in which female researchers from INiBICA come together to highlight their vital role in scientific development.
- Networks Media Campaign to Raise Awareness of Women Scientists: This social Networks media campaign aims to raise awareness of the work of women scientists and honor their achievements.#HonorWomenScientists
- Scheduled Talks: INiBICA has organized several talks to commemorate this day, including “NO SCIENCE, NO FUTURE,” “International Day of Women and Girls in Science,” “A Professional Career in and for Science,” and “Can Mathematics Heal?” These talks are intended to raise awareness among young people about the importance of gender equality in science and to encourage young people to pursue research.
