PIERCIA: el proyecto del Área Sanitaria Campo de Gibraltar Este, en La Línea de la Concepción, premiado por revolucionar el abordaje de la Enfermedad Renal Crónica

🆕 This project, coordinated by José Escribano Serrano and Enrique Jiménez Varo, from the EM33: CARTEIA group at INiBICA, and Esther Rubio Martín, Medical Director at La Línea de La Concepción University Hospital, and promoted by AstraZeneca in collaboration with Wayra and Kunsen, has been awarded the national "ACCIÓN" prize as the most innovative project in cardio-renal health.

🚀 ¿Qué es PIERCIA y por qué es tan importante para nuestros pacientes?:

La enfermedad renal es una “epidemia silenciosa” que afecta a 1 de cada 5 personas mayores de 45 años en nuestra comarca.

Muchas veces no da síntomas hasta que está muy avanzada.

📝 PIERCIA ha cambiado las reglas del juego:

✅ Automatic detection: from the hospital laboratory, the system automatically identifies patients at risk, without waiting for the disease to progress.
✅ A digital "guardian angel": the system reviews results and medication to notify the doctor if any doses need to be adjusted or additional tests performed.
✅ Equal care for all: no matter which center you are treated at, the system ensures that all patients receive the best follow-up based on the latest medical guidelines.
✅ Patient rescue: if someone with a significant kidney problem has "fallen" off the system's radar, PIERCIA locates them and automatically generates an appointment with a specialist.

🤝 This award recognizes the efforts of the Renal Health Commission, a Team family doctors, nephrologists, analysts, and nurses who work together to put technology at the service of your health.

👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️ With this system, which has been undergoing improvements since last year, we have already managed to provide thousands of people in the eastern Campo de Gibraltar region with a complete and safe kidney assessment.
