PIERCIA: The Campo de Gibraltar East Health District project, at La Línea de la Concepción, recognized for revolutionizing the approach to chronic kidney disease

🆕 This project, coordinated by José Escribano Serrano and Enrique Jiménez Varo of the EM33: CARTEIA group at INiBICA and Esther Rubio Martín, Medical Director of the University Hospital of La Línea de La Concepción, and sponsored by AstraZeneca in collaboration with Wayra and Kunsen, has been recognized in the national “ACCIÓN” competition as the most innovative project in cardio-renal health.

🚀 What is PIERCIA, and why is it so important to our patients?:

Kidney disease is a “silent epidemic” that affects 1 in 5 people over the age of 45 in our region.

It often doesn't cause any symptoms until it's very advanced.

📝 PIERCIA has changed the game:

🤝 This award recognizes the efforts of the Renal Health Commission, a Team made up of family doctors, nephrologists, lab technicians, and nurses who work together to ensure that technology serves your health.

👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️ Thanks to this system, which has been undergoing improvements since last year, we have already provided thousands of people in Eastern Campo de Gibraltar with a comprehensive and safe kidney evaluation.
