A research group composed of professionals with extensive experience in infectious diseases. In addition, its principal investigator currently serves as coordinator of the Infectious Diseases Working Group of the Andalusian Society of Intensive Care Medicine and Coronary Care Units. The group primarily investigates clinically relevant infectious diseases. On the one hand, it analyzes bacterial resistance and the appropriate use of antibiotics, contributing to strategies to combat this global health problem. On the other hand, it studies the inflammatory response in pneumonia, particularly the role of cytokines—a well-established line of research that has gained greater relevance following the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
