EM26: Pathobiology
Team An interdisciplinary team composed of physicians specializing in histology and tissue engineering, condensed matter physicists, experts in nanostructured materials, engineers specializing in simulation systems, and oral surgeons. The group’s line of research consists of the design and characterization of new materials using sol-gel methodology for clinical application, promoting bone regeneration through the implementation of techniques to create a product (biomaterial) that induces bone tissue formation and, consequently, osseointegration, thereby addressing a clinical need such as bone defects and restoring functionality to the affected area, thereby integrating into the fields of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. In summary, this is an innovative line of research in the province of Cádiz , as it brings together biomedicine, materials science, clinical practice, and computational simulation—which, taken together, represents a capacity for translational research aimed at solving clinical problems.
