Honored for her scientific achievements and the “Zero Relapse” project, which aims to predict relapses in pediatric leukemia

María Rosa Durán , a researcher at the University of Cádiz , has been honored in the 2026 edition of the “Ilustres Anónimas” initiative, organized by the Municipal Women’s Foundation of the City of Cádiz, which highlights women who excel in their professional and social spheres.

María Rosa Durán She combines applied research with academic teaching, providing innovative solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancers. A professor in the Department of Mathematics and a researcher at the Institute for Research and Innovation in Biomedical Sciences at Cádiz (INiBICA), she has been recognized for her research career focused on the application of mathematical models to the biomedical field, as well as for her role in the “Zero Relapse” project. This is a pioneering initiative aimed at predicting relapses in pediatric leukemia using advanced predictive tools, integrating research, health technology transfer, and university teaching.

During the gala, held at the Palacio de Congresos, the contributions of figures such as himself were highlighted for their contributions to science and to the society of Cádiz. The award reinforces the role of the University of Cádiz in promoting excellence in research with a social impact.
