INTRODUCTION

MELAGE is neuroimaging software developed for viewing medical images, including both ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Specially designed for neuroimaging of newborns, it is a versatile platform that allows for the viewing of many types of medical images.

It allows two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and four-dimensional images from both techniques to be loaded, and in the case of 3D images, it allows simultaneous visualization of the three orthogonal planes, which facilitates the location of regions of interest. It has been developed in Python with a user-friendly interface for healthcare personnel.

Thanks to Artificial Intelligence and deep learning methods, MELAGE has tools to estimate volumes of different regions of interest in both images. In addition, it allows linear, area, and volumetric measurements to be taken in a very intuitive and simple way, with the segmented region instantly visible in a new tab.

Another new feature is the ability to view ultrasound and MRI images in the same tab, oriented in a similar way, which can facilitate the diagnostic approach of physicians by obtaining information from two complementary techniques.

IMPACT / BENEFIT

This software, designed with physicians in mind, is a tool that, when made available to physicians, facilitates the analysis of medical images by the physician by having a simple and intuitive user interface.

It facilitates the automatic measurement of structures of interest to physicians and researchers, which optimizes image interpretation and can result in better clinical care.

AVAILABLE PLATFORMS

The most versatile version can be easily installed on any PC using an executable (.exe) file and is ready to use. We continue to work on implementing new utilities and tools that facilitate the work of clinicians and researchers in the field.

It is also available on the LINUX (UBUNTU) platform.
