	The candidate will join the “Perinatal Brain Injury” CO-20 Group, which focuses on the study of neonatal neurological disorders (http://inibica.com/co20-danocerebral-perinatal/). Our group’s primary focus is the study of the neurobiological basis of neurodevelopmental disorders observed in newborns at high risk of developing them. We focus on two subpopulations of newborns who exhibit greater neurological vulnerability: term newborns exposed to perinatal asphyxia who develop hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, and preterm newborns. We use various advanced neuroimaging techniques, primarily ultrasound (3D brain ultrasound, power Doppler, etc.) and magnetic resonance imaging (DWI, DTI), to study the development of different brain structures. We investigate the association between various biochemical, clinical, and socioeconomic factors and neurodevelopment. Neurodevelopmental assessments are conducted at ages 2, 4–6, and 8. The selected candidate will have an excellent opportunity to combine clinical research with learning image segmentation techniques (brain ultrasound and MRI) and to be part of a longitudinal cohort of preterm patients currently being recruited through Projects , which has received funding from competitive regional, national, and international grants listed at Projects .
Description	Principal Investigators: Isabel Benavente Fernández / Simón Lubián López. Expected start date: January 2024. Contract duration: 36 months. Workplace: Hospital Universitario Puerta del Mar (Cádiz).
Terms of the Contract	A gross salary of 30,000 € for the first two years and 35,000 € for the third year. Compatible with performing 80/100 hours per year of teaching and/or support services. A degree in medicine, psychology, nursing, pharmacy, chemistry, physics, or biology.
Essential Requirements	Have earned a doctoral degree on or after January 1, 2019. To have completed the thesis in a group and at a center different from the group you are joining.
Preferred Qualifications	Be listed as the first author, senior author, and/or corresponding author in * Publications * as of January 1, 2018. Have completed internships at national or international institutions. Have completed the FSE or a Río Hortega contract. Participation in related research Projects .
