The recent interview with Dr. Almudena Lara published by the DiabetesCERO Foundation highlights a line of research closely linked to the work of the group “ CO17: , Diabetes Mellitus – Autoimmunity and Chronic Complications: Pathological, Clinical, and Therapeutic Implications” at the Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation (INiBICA) at Cádiz.

Dr. Lara has been awarded a Young Talent Grant from the DiabetesCERO Foundation for a project focused on the study of marine molecules with anti-inflammatory potential—an innovative approach that opens up new perspectives in addressing diabetes-related processes and their immunological mechanisms.

The CO17 group conducts basic, translational, and applied research on diabetes mellitus, its chronic complications, and new therapeutic approaches. Its work focuses on the study of diabetes, autoimmunity, and the complications associated with this disease, with the goal of advancing our understanding of its pathological, clinical, and therapeutic implications.
