MOLECULAR QUANTIFICATION
The Molecular Quantification Service of the Research Unit helps study interactions between macromolecules and the immunodetection of biomarkers. These include enzymes, receptor-ligand interactions, low-affinity interactions, second messenger levels, DNA, RNA, proteins, protein-protein interactions, peptides, sugars, and small molecules.
EQUIPMENT
- U.I.H.U.P.M.:
- Nanodrop OneC Microvolume UV-Vis Spectrophotometer (Thermo Scientific).
- Bioruptor Pico Ultrasonicator (Diagenode).
- Qubit Flex Fluorimeter (Invitrogen).
- Luminex IntelliFlex (Thermo Fisher Scientific).
- Varioskan Lux (Thermo Fisher Scientific).
- Biophotometer, BIOPHOTOMETER (EPPENDORF), vial reader.
- Spectrophotometer, POWER WAVE (BIOTEK), plate reader.
- Luminometer, Sirius (Berthold).
- Chemidoc, CHEMIDOC XRS (BIORAD).
- CHEMIDOC DIGITAL, IMAGING SYSTEM (BIORAD).
- OPTIMA MAX XP Ultracentrifuge (Beckman Coulter).
- SORVALL T21 Refrigerated Centrifuge.
- Sirena (AFI) Multi-Purpose Refrigerated Centrifuge.
- Optima XPN-100 Ultracentrifuge (Beckman Coulter).
- NanoSight (Malvern Panalytical).
- Synergy MX Fluorimeter, Luminometer, and Microplate Spectrophotometer (Biotek). Microplate reader with multi-detection capabilities (spectrophotometer, fluorimeter, and luminometer).
- AlphaLISA PerkinElmer. AlphaLISA assays are homogeneous, wash-free immunoassays with high sensitivity and wide dynamic ranges. AlphaLISA assays are versatile and can be used to detect secreted, intracellular, or membrane-bound analytes.
- Bioplex®200 System. Biorad. The Bio-Plex 200 system offers protein and nucleic acid researchers a reliable multiplex analysis solution that enables the analysis of up to 100 biomolecules in a single sample.
- Bioplex Pro II Wash Station. Biorad. Microplate washing station for magnetic bead-based assays; includes a magnetic plate holder, a waste bottle, and 2 bottles of washing solution.
- Chemidoc.Touch Imaging System. The Bio-Rad ChemiDoc Touch and its software allow us to reduce the time it takes to analyze the proteins in our samples from a process that used to take several days to just a few hours. The ChemiDoc Touch imaging system is designed for gel and Western blot imaging.
APPLICATIONS
- Quantification of DNA, RNA, and proteins.
- Detection for gene expression assays (GFP).
- Enzymology.
- Colorimetry.
- Enzyme characterization.
- Quantification of biomarkers.
- Microbial quantification.
- ELISA assays.
- Luciferase activity assays.
