ICT and Databases
The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Databases (DB) Unit is responsible for promoting, developing, and managing Projects related to information technology, the creation and administration of databases, and the design of digital solutions aimed at improving the collection, organization, use, and monitoring of information.
Among its main functions are the development and maintenance of databases and applications tailored to the needs of the various Projects and units. To this end, specialized platforms such as REDCap—which is specifically designed for the secure creation of electronic data collection forms—are used, as well as other tools such as Oracle APEX, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access, when the nature of the project requires specific, flexible, or user-tailored solutions.
In addition, the unit develops Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) —solutions that enable the creation of applications accessible and installable on various devices, with a user experience similar to that of a mobile app, making them easier to use in clinical, research, management, or monitoring environments at Projects.
In addition, the Unit develops specific pages on the INiBICA website and customized web forms, designed at the request of research staff and tailored to the needs of each project, activity, or group. These solutions enable the dissemination of information, the presentation of content, the management of activities, and the collection of data—either anonymously or with identifying information—including registrations for courses, conferences, seminars, surveys, applications, or other records related to specific Projects .
