El patio de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales de la Universidad de Cádiz acogió ayer la gala de la XVIII edición de los Premios atrÉBT!, organizada por la Universidad de Cádiz a través de UCAEmprende, la Oficina de Transferencia de Resultados de Investigación (OTRI) y la Unidad de Cultura Científica y de la Innovación (UCC+i).

Cádiz 's Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation (INiBICA) played a prominent role in this year's event, both for its institutional involvement and for the recognition received for various initiatives promoted by researchers affiliated with the Institute.

Representing INiBICA at the gala were its scientific director, Esther María Berrocoso Domínguez, as well as members of the evaluation committee for the ideas submitted to the atrÉBT! Health Award: Pedro Galeano, a technician with INiBICA’s Quality Management Unit, and José Manuel Romero, representing the Institute’s Internal Scientific Committee.

Estos galardones reconocen ideas y proyectos empresariales de base humanística o tecnológica surgidos del conocimiento y el talento de la comunidad universitaria, favoreciendo la transferencia de los resultados de investigación y su transformación en iniciativas capaces de generar impacto económico y social.

En esta edición, el INiBICA participó activamente como entidad patrocinadora de la Mención atrÉBT! Salud, dirigida a distinguir ideas de creación de empresas vinculadas al ámbito sanitario. La iniciativa ganadora fue “Apósito de gasa de tul estéril impregnada para mano”, promovida por Nuria Trujillo Garrido, integrante del grupo EM16 Nutrición: Aspectos biomoleculares, fisiopatológicos, clínicos y sociosanitarios del INiBICA.

The proposal calls for the development of a new dressing for the treatment of second- and third-degree burns on the hands, an anatomical area that is particularly complex due to its mobility and functionality. The award was presented by Esther María Berrocoso Domínguez, scientific director of INiBICA, who represented the Institute during the ceremony.

Iniciativas premiadas al talento del Instituto

La presencia del talento investigador del INiBICA se extendió también a otras modalidades de los Premios atrÉBT!. La iniciativa TagaCream recibió el Premio atrÉBT! SpinOff. Entre sus promotores se encuentran Alfonso María Lechuga, investigador del grupo CO1 INMOX – Inflamación, Nutrición, Metabolismo y Estrés Oxidativo, y Enrique Durán, perteneciente al grupo CO28 Metabolómica y Bioanálisis del Instituto.

Asimismo, la iniciativa Fetalag fue reconocida con el Premio atrÉBT! IPR. Entre las personas promotoras del proyecto se encuentra Juan Jesús Fernández Alba, investigador del grupo EM18 Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación en Medicina Materno-Fetal y en Oncología Ginecológica del INiBICA.

Compromiso con la transferencia del conocimiento

The gala was a magnificent celebration of the talent, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit fostered within the University of Cádiz. INiBICA was also prominently featured in the remarks made by the authorities and institutional representatives who spoke, all of whom highlighted its contribution to the research, innovation, and technology transfer ecosystem in the province of Cádiz.

The Institute’s participation in this 18th edition of the atrÉBT! Awards reflects its commitment to promoting scientific knowledge, protecting and disseminating research findings, and fostering innovative entrepreneurial initiatives that contribute to improving the health and well-being of the public.
