The “Los Gallos” and “El Lugar” health centers, located in Chiclana, will be pioneers in their implementation within the Andalusian primary care system.

This initiative, led by Professor Alejandro Galán Mercant, a physical therapist with the MOVE-IT research group, in coordination with the administrators of the participating health centers, directors and doctors Rosa María Llerena Guerrero and María Jesús Cobo Ocaña, and nursing care coordinator Elisa Muiño Aguilar—and funded by the University of Cádiz and INiBICA—aims to address one of today’s major public health challenges: the aging population and the increasing dependence of older adults.

To do this:

✅ Ofrecerán nuevas estrategias costo-efectivas para reducir la dependencia.
✅ Mejorarán la salud mental y física de la población mayor para aliviar la carga asistencial del sistema público de salud.
✅ Generarán conocimiento científico de valor, favoreciendo el desarrollo de nuevas políticas públicas de envejecimiento saludable, en línea con las recomendaciones de la Organización Mundial de la Salud y los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de la Agenda 2030.
