	We are seeking a candidate to apply for a “ Juan de la Cierva ” contract through the State Research Agency’s upcoming 2022 call for proposals to conduct research within the CO17 group: Diabetes Mellitus – Autoimmunity and Chronic Complications. Pathological, Clinical, and Therapeutic Implications at the Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation at Cádiz (INiBICA).

Line of Research	Our laboratory studies the immune processes involved in the development of type 1 diabetes mellitus, as well as the effects on various target organs: the pancreas, kidneys, and retina. We work with various naturally occurring molecules that have anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. Our research employs molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, as well as an examination of pathophysiological interactions.
Applicant Requirements	Meet the requirements set forth in the call for applications for the " Juan de la Cierva" grants. Have defended the doctoral dissertation after January 1, 2021. Doctorate in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or Veterinary Medicine. Have published 3 or more articles in international journals indexed in JCR/PubMed, at least one of which as first author. Good command of English (minimum B2 level). Experience working in foreign laboratories will be viewed favorably.

Description	The Diabetes Mellitus and Associated Complications research group at the Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation Cádiz /INiBICA) is seeking a candidate for a 4-year pre-doctoral position, as part of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training’s 2022 Grants for University Faculty Training (FPU) program, which is pending publication (November–December 2022).

Line of Research	Analysis of peripheral blood biomarkers in patients with diabetes mellitus to study disease progression and its association with the development of secondary complications such as diabetic retinopathy and nephropathy, using high-throughput analytical techniques applied to patient samples: genomics (real-time PCR, RNA-seq), metabolomics, and proteomics, multiplex ELISA, flow cytometry of peripheral blood mononuclear cells, etc. Experimental approaches using bioactive molecules will also be developed in animal models and cell cultures.
Applicant Requirements	Candidates must meet the requirements set forth in the call for applications. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in the fields of Health Sciences (Biology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, etc.) with a graduation date after January 1, 2019, and a cumulative grade point average higher than 8.4 to have a realistic chance of obtaining the FPU contract. The criteria to be evaluated include the academic record, which is assessed in the first phase (cutoff score), and various other qualifications, which are assessed in the second phase (master’s degree, collaborative skills, English proficiency, and prior research experience [conferences, articles, etc.]).
