Line of research	Our laboratory studies the immune processes that accompany the development of type 1 diabetes mellitus, as well as the effects on the various target organs: pancreas, kidney, and retina. We work with different naturally occurring molecules that have anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. The study is approached using molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, as well as pathophysiological interactions.
Applicant requirements	Cumplir los requisitos establecidos en la convocatoria Ayudas Juan de la Cierva. Have defended your doctoral thesis after January 1, 2021. Doctorate in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or Veterinary Medicine. Have published 3 or more articles in international journals included in JCR/PubMed, at least one of them as first author. Good level of English (minimum level B2). Stays in foreign laboratories will be viewed favorably.

Description	The Diabetes Mellitus and Associated Complications Research Group at the Cádiz Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation Cádiz ) is seeking candidates for a four-year pre-doctoral contract within the 2022 University Teaching Staff Training Grants (FPU) program of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, which is pending publication (November-December 2022).

Line of research	Analysis of peripheral blood biomarkers in patients with diabetes mellitus to study disease progression and association with the development of secondary complications such as retinopathy and diabetic nephropathy, using mass analysis techniques applied to patient samples: genomics (real-time PCR, RNAseq), metabolomics, and proteomics, multiplex ELISA, flow cytometry in peripheral blood mononuclear cells, etc. Experimental approaches with bioactive molecules will also be developed in animal models and cell cultures.
Applicant requirements	Candidates must meet the requirements set out in the call for applications. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in the areas of Health Sciences (Biology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, etc.) with a graduation date after January 1, 2019, and a grade point average of over 8.4 to have a real chance of obtaining the FPU contract. Among the merits to be assessed are academic records, which are evaluated in the first phase (cut-off point), and various curricular merits, which are evaluated in the second phase (master's degree, collaborative skills, level of English, previous research experience (conferences, articles, etc.).
