The Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) has published its Strategic Plan , which sets out and defines the Institute's main lines of action for the next five years. This is the ISCIII first Strategic Plan , which until now has been governed by annual action plans, and has been unanimously approved by the Governing Council as the institution's highest governing body.
The objective of the Plan is to guarantee a sustained strategy to reinforce and improve the work that the ISCIII carrying out for more than 30 years in Spain, which can be summarized as research, financing, training, and the provision of public health services for the National Health System (SNS). With its development, the ISCIII a roadmap to help overcome weaknesses and threats, mainly related to administrative and bureaucratic issues and a loss of economic and human resources over the last decade, a trend that has been corrected in the last two years. In addition, the foundations are being laid to optimize the management of the ISCIII strengths and opportunities, such as its levels of specialization, reputation, coordination, social commitment, ability to establish alliances, and scientific output, among others.
