🎉🔬 Esther Berrocoso, INiBICA’s New Scientific Director 🔬🎉

INiBICA held an Extraordinary Governing Council meeting at which Esther María Berrocoso Domínguez, a full professor at the University of Cádiz, was officially appointed as the institute’s new scientific director for the 2026–2030 term. 👩‍🔬 Berrocoso is the first woman to hold this position at INiBICA, succeeding Manuel Aguilar upon his retirement. She was also awarded this year’s Andalusian Provincial Flag for Research, Science, and Health for, among other achievements, her work as INiBICA’s scientific director, which has given the institute a significant boost. 👩‍🏫 Esther Berrocoso is a full professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the UCA and conducts her research in the fields of neuroscience and neuropsychopharmacology. She is currently the principal investigator for INiBICA’s CO9 group, the CTS-510 “ PAIDI ” group, and the Center for Biomedical Research in Mental Health (CIBERSAM) at the Carlos III Health Institute, where she also serves on the steering committee in the area of training. Prior to her appointment as scientific director, she held the position of deputy scientific director at INiBICA. 🔬🧠 In the academic and university administration spheres, Berrocoso is the director of the Department of Neurosciences and a member of the UCA Research Commission. She also serves as a member of the Spanish Brain Council. 🤝 Her appointment follows the resolution of a public call for applications, which included a two-phase selection process. INiBICA acogerá en Cádiz el mayor encuentro de gestores de investigación clínica de España

El Palacio de Congresos de Cádiz se convertirá los días 1 y 2 de octubre en el epicentro de la gestión de la I+D+i clínica, hospitalaria y biosanitaria en España. El INiBICA será el anfitrión de las Jornadas Anuales de la Red de Entidades Gestoras de Investigación Clínica (REGIC). Tras el hito alcanzado en la última edición celebrada en Vigo —que reunió a 270 profesionales—, Cádiz tomará el relevo con el reto de seguir impulsando la colaboración y la innovación en el sistema sanitario.  Según ha destacado Julio Ríos de la Rosa, gerente de INiBICA y vocal de la Junta Directiva de REGIC, estas jornadas buscan convertirse en una herramienta de trabajo conjunto para reforzar sinergias, profesionalizar la gestión de la investigación y contribuir a la transformación real del Sistema Nacional de Salud. El evento potenciará el formato de talleres prácticos y colaborativos y abordará los retos urgentes identificados por las propias entidades asociadas: desde la atracción y retención de talento investigador, hasta la competitividad del país como motor de ensayos clínicos a nivel europeo. 🩻 The Rheumatology Department at the Hospital Hospital Universitario Puerta del Mar , is launching an educational project aimed at improving the early identification of patients at risk of developing psoriatic arthritis. This chronic inflammatory disease can cause joint damage, disability, and a significant impact on quality of life if it is not diagnosed and treated early. 🔬 The initiative aims to identify, at an early stage, those patients with psoriasis who are most likely to develop psoriatic arthritis by evaluating genetic susceptibility factors and using high-resolution imaging techniques that can detect signs of inflammation before clinical symptoms appear. 👥 The project includes various training and continuing education activities for healthcare professionals, such as clinical sessions, training in imaging techniques, and a review of early diagnosis protocols, with the goal of improving the multidisciplinary approach to these patients and promoting early treatment strategies. 🔗 TRAINING PROJECT 🤝 This initiative is supported by the pharmaceutical industry, which contributes to the development of training activities and the promotion of initiatives aimed at improving knowledge and care for patients with inflammatory diseases.
