El rector acompaña al secretario de Estado de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades en su visita a la nueva unidad de ensayos clínicos del INiBICA

The conference highlights the strategic role of the new UiC in promoting translational clinical research in the province of Cádiz

The rector of the University of Cádiz, Casimiro Mantell, accompanied the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Universities, Juan Cruz Cigudosa, on his visit to the Jerez-INiBICA Early Phase Clinical Research Unit, a key infrastructure for the development of advanced clinical trials in the province.

The visit began with an institutional reception attended by, among others, the Secretary General for Research, Innovation, and Digital Health of the Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Áurea Morillo; the Managing Director of the Andalusian Foundation for Progress and Health, Gonzalo Balbontín; the Regional Delegate for Health and Consumer Affairs in Cádiz, Eva Pajares; the Vice-Rector for Health Science and Well-being of the University Community of the UCA, Isabel Benavente; the President of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the Management of Biomedical Research in Cádiz, Management Entity INiBICA, José Luis Guijarro; the Managing Director of INiBICA, Julio Ríos; and the Deputy Scientific Director of the institute, Esther Berrocoso.

During the tour, the rector highlighted the strategic importance of this unit in consolidating the University of Cádiz position Cádiz the field of biomedical research and strengthening collaboration with the Andalusian public health system. For his part, the Secretary of State was able to see firsthand the facilities, technical resources, and work of the specialized staff who conduct clinical trials with the highest standards of quality and safety.

The Jerez-INiBICA Early Phase Clinical Research Unit represents a qualitative leap in the research capacity of the province's healthcare and university environment. Its launch will enable progress in translational clinical research, facilitating the transformation of laboratory results into therapeutic solutions that can be applied in healthcare practice.

During the visit, the unit's main achievements were also presented, along with its decisive contribution to the recent accreditation of INiBICA by the Carlos III Health Institute, a recognition that endorses the institute's scientific and organizational excellence.

With this visit, the University of Cádiz its commitment to generating knowledge, attracting research talent, and improving healthcare through cutting-edge clinical research.
