🔬🤝 The First ConilConCiencia Science Outreach Conference was supported by and featured the participation of INiBICA 🤝🔬

🌍 This past weekend, Conil de la Frontera took a significant step toward establishing itself as a science tourism destination in Spain following the resounding success of the First “ConilConCiencia” Science Outreach Conference, held April 17–19 at the iconic venues of Santa Catalina and La Chanca. This initiative, a first of its kind in Andalusia, succeeded over the course of three days in transforming the town in the province of Cádiz into a true meeting point for science, the public, and education. 📊 The event drew a total of 451 participants: 191 registered attendees and more than 260 additional visitors. These figures have cemented this first edition as a resounding success and as the foundation for an event poised to become a national benchmark. Over three intense days, the conference offered an ambitious program featuring 67 presentations selected from 95 proposals, 11 scientific posters out of a total of 45 submissions, two plenary presentations, two exhibitions, and seven workshop booths focused on technological and scientific demonstrations. These figures reflect the high scientific standard and the strong response from the research community. 🎓 The program included activities for all audiences, ranging from workshops on astronomy, home automation, and virtual reality to scientific tastings and immersive experiences. Education took center stage, with the active participation of high school students from various Andalusian provinces, who presented their own work in poster format within a real scientific setting. 🧬 Also noteworthy were the sessions led by researchers affiliated with the Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation of “ Cádiz ” (INiBICA), such as the following presentations: “Mathematics: A New Medicine” by Ana Niño López, from the CO29 MathMed research group; “Low-Cost Clinical Simulators for Training in Obstetric Procedures” by Violeta Marín Padillo and Rocío Gallego Ramos, from the EM14 iPROTEC-CARE group; “Evaluation of an mHealth Tool in Secondary Cardiovascular Prevention: Impact on Adherence and Risk Factors” by Celia Cruz Cobo from the Nutrition-focused group (EM16), who also participated in the presentation on behavioral risk determinants among future healthcare professionals; Another presentation featured members of the CO8 MOVE-IT group (Alejandro Galán Mercant and Verónica Pérez Cabezas) and the CO1 “ INMOX ” group (María de la Paz Gómez Jiménez) among its Authors, presenting the STELAR project, which focuses on predicting how the population will age; Finally, “Cost-Effectiveness Optimization in the Prevention and Treatment of Frailty in Older Adults (FRAGSALUD-ON)” also included members of the CO32 Biomarkers group (Cristina Casals Vázquez, Juan Corral Pérez, Laura Ávila Cabeza de Vaca, and Manuel Jesús Costilla Macías) as part of the Team , the authors of the proposal. 🤝 This event was made possible thanks to the work of the organizing committee of the ConilConCiencia Association and the support of organizations committed to science and society, such as the Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation at the University of Cádiz (INiBICA), the Social Council of the University of Cádiz , and the City Council of Conil de la Frontera.
