🏆📋 The Biobank of the Province of Cádiz has received AENOR certification for quality and excellence 📋🏆

This service’s operations are the result of the joint and coordinated efforts of professionals at the hospitals in Cádiz, Jerez, Puerto Real , and La Línea, as well as the CTTC. The Biobank of the Andalusian Public Health System has renewed the certificate attesting to the excellent conditions of its quality management system in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 standard on quality management system requirements. This accreditation extends to all its provincial nodes, with the inclusion for the first time of the node in Cádiz, headquartered at the Hospital Universitario Puerta del Mar. Specifically, the activities of the Biobank node in the province of Cádiz are carried out thanks to the joint and coordinated efforts of the professionals at the Puerta del Mar University Hospitals in Cádiz, Puerto Real , and Jerez, as well as the Hospital de la Línea de la Concepción and the Regional Center for Transfusion, Tissues, and Cells (CTTC). The audit highlights the commitment and excellence of this networked structure within the Andalusian healthcare system in providing quality service to its patients. In this regard, the evaluation focused on determining the organization’s management system’s compliance with audit criteria; assessing its adherence to applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements; and, finally, determining the effectiveness of the management system in ensuring quality service for its users. Certification: The certification obtained covers various aspects of the Andalusian Public Health System Biobank’s management system, including the provision of services for the supply, storage, and processing of blood products or derivatives, tissues, substances, or biological samples of human origin, and human pluripotent stem cell lines, for use in research and teaching; technical advice on the management of human samples for research; the design and delivery of training in the field of biomedical research; and the Registry of donors of biological samples for biomedical research. In addition, the coordination node strengthens all of the Biobank’s work, including the coordination of the Andalusian Public Health System Biobank and all its nodes within its research area. This certification recognizes the maturity and effectiveness of its quality management system and confirms its commitment to continuous improvement in order to better meet the expectations of researchers and users of the public health system every day. As explained by the head of the Biobank at Puerta del Mar Hospital, hematology specialist Antonio Leopoldo Santisteban, coordination between the Pathology units and the various clinical and surgical pathways established for sample collection “is essential.” He also notes that the Cádiz Province Biobank is one of the central research support services of the Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation of the “ Cádiz ” (INiBICA) and collaborates closely with the teaching and research community at the University of “ Cádiz ” (UCA). 🔗 More information: La Gaceta de Cádiz

🎗️🌍 4 de febrero: Día Mundial contra el Cáncer 🌍🎗️ - INiBICA

🎗️🌍 February 4: World Cancer Day 🌍🎗️

On this occasion, we would like to highlight the commitment of the #INiBICA research staff to improving the health of cancer patients in the province of Cádiz through #research and #innovation. We involve the public and the organizations that, through their dedication and selfless efforts, support our daily work in this process. On January 27, Dr. José M. Baena of the Medical Oncology Service @hupmcadiz and Coordinator of the INiBICA Onco-Hematology Program organized a #clinical session to present the results of the study titled “Effectiveness of Adjuvant Trastuzumab in HER2-Positive Breast Cancer: An Observational Study Over the Last 15 Years,” presented by Jaime Lluch Gómez (resident in Medical Oncology). The presentation was attended by the Trebujena Cancer Association, the Bahía Association of Women with Cancer, the Cádiz Association Against Breast Cancer, the Rota Association for the Fight Against Cancer, and the Spanish Association Against Cancer. At the end of the event, the Trebujena Cancer Association—whose mission is to help patients and their families and to invest in research against this disease—presented a donation to the Director of the Biomedical Foundation of Cádiz (INiBICA), delivered by Juan Francisco, a young man with a strong sense of social responsibility. Juan Francisco, a native of #Trebujena, took the initiative at just 10 years old to contribute to cancer research. To do so, every year he collects discarded horse shoes, cleans them, paints them, decorates them, and adds a message of hope and optimism, creating “lucky horseshoes,” as he calls them. During Trebufestival—an increasingly popular festival held one weekend in April—Juan Francisco sells these horseshoes to raise funds for cancer research, surpassing his previous efforts every year. We are so proud to have young people like Juan Francisco in our province. THANK YOU!

🖨️🏥 Sesión Clínica sobre Impresión 3D Hospitalaria 🏥🖨️ - INiBICA

🖨️🏥 Clinical Session on 3D Printing in Hospitals 🏥🖨️

Next Friday, January 20, a hospital clinical session will be held with the participation of healthcare professionals from various specialties and researchers from INiBICA to discuss the clinical applications of 3D printing. The event will take place from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium of the Hospital Hospital Universitario Puerta del Mar. ACSA accreditation pending. The growth of virtual planning and 3D printing technology has been exponential, and numerous surgical specialties have adopted it as an essential tool in their daily surgical practice. There is sufficient scientific evidence to recommend the use of virtual planning and 3D printing techniques, which help reduce surgical times and the risk of perioperative complications. We encourage INiBICA research staff to attend to learn about the clinical needs and applications of 3D printing, as well as to identify collaborators for the development of new Lines of research and innovation in this field. We look forward to seeing you there!
