📲🫀 mICardiApp, an app developed by a joint Team e of Punta Europa University Hospital and the School of Nursing at the Bahía de Algeciras campus of the University of Cádiz, coordinated by INiBICA, could revolutionize the treatment of heart failure in Spain. 🌟 For the first time, a project led entirely from Algeciras —with Pilar Bas Sarmiento and Eduardo Sánchez Sánchez as the project’s principal investigators (PIs)—has secured coveted funding from the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), an organization that sets the standard for research excellence in Spain. 🚀 Their proposal was selected in the competitive call for proposals for the Strategic Action in Health 2025, where only the strongest Projects manage to secure a spot. 🔍 What makes mICardiApp so special? This pioneering tool empowers patients and aims to reduce hospitalizations. 📲 How? By helping patients understand their condition and transition from passive care to patient empowerment—so they are not merely recipients of treatment, but active agents in managing their own health. 🔗 More information: Regional Government of Andalusia || Instagram

🎙️🧬 INiBICA Discusses the Challenges and Opportunities in Biotechnology and Health at IberoBio 🧬🎙️

INiBICA, together with Zona Franca Cádiz and other experts at IberoBio, analyzes the opportunities and challenges of biotechnology and artificial intelligence 🌟 A few days ago, Julio Ríos, manager of INiBICA, had the pleasure of participating in Cadena SER’s “Hoy por hoy” program, alongside Fran González, the government’s special delegate for the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, and José Ramón Valverde, Head of Scientific Computing at the National Biotechnology Center and the CSIC, where they discussed the present and future of biomedicine and the application of AI in healthcare and research. 🗣️ During the broadcast, Ríos highlighted “how something very big is taking shape at Cádiz .” “It’s not just about code or data, but about the convergence of bioinformatics, biomedicine, and biotechnology, which are joining forces to advance a deeply human goal: improving people’s health.” He also emphasized that “knowledge transfer is the true driver of change. So are the challenges and the need for adequate regulation, however much it may weigh on us at times. Seeing institutions, startups, and research groups working together shows that the biotech ecosystem in Southern Europe is more vibrant than ever.” 💙 Thank you to Cadena SER, Zona Franca de Cádiz , and the entire IberoBio consortium for creating this space and allowing us to continue building science through collaboration. 🎧 Listen to the full interview at the following link 🔗 More information: Instagram
